The WKC National Championships represent the foundation of the World Knowledge Championships ecosystem. Every participant begins their WKC journey at the national level, where they compete against fellow citizens in a structured programme designed to identify the country's most accomplished knowledge competitors.
The National Championships celebrate knowledge, promote lifelong learning and foster national pride while creating a pathway to continental and world competitions. They provide an opportunity for individuals from all backgrounds to demonstrate their understanding of their country's history, geography, government, culture, economy, science, sports, institutions and relationship with the wider world.
The National Championships are conducted under the official WKC Editorial Standards, ensuring that every participant competes under the same internationally recognised rules and scoring system.
Objectives
The National Championships aim to:
- Promote knowledge and education among citizens.
- Encourage greater appreciation of national history, heritage and identity.
- Develop a culture of healthy intellectual competition.
- Identify and recognise the country's leading knowledge performers.
- Provide a qualification pathway to Continental Championships.
- Inspire young people and adults to become lifelong learners.
Competition Structure
Participation begins through the WKC online platform, where registered players compete in official country challenges. Successful participants may progress through various qualification stages before competing in live National Championship events, including television and streaming programmes.
Each National Championship culminates in the crowning of the WKC National Champion, who becomes the official representative of that country in the Continental Championships.
